Oculus ships all Rift preorders, but made-for-VR Touch controllers are still a ways off - gallagherthly1983
Well, IT wasn't the smoothest set up imaginable but we can finally move on: Every bit of today, Oculus claims all preorders for the Oculus Breach virtual realism headset have shipped. Stock is now available, and any new orders are set out to ship within 2-4 business days.
That puts Optic slightly onward of schedule I believe, since at one point orders reportedly flexile out through August. Regardless, if you wishing to go in virtual reality your choice is no longer constrained by when your unit will arrive. Both the Rift and the HTC Vive are easy obtainable—provided, of line, you take up the money and an above-average PC to run a VR headset.
But Oculus's pseudo-room scale, hand-tracking Touch controllers—its answer to the HTC Vive's ready-made-for-VR controllers—are still a slipway off. Eye didn't expose an official date today but said we'll "hear more" at this year's annual Oculus Connect convention—in October. That means Oculus Reach out is remote to launch until at to the lowest degree November or even out December.
What's the hold-up? At this point I can't imagine it's hardware-related, given how many excellent Touch demos I've tried and true—including the superb Wilson's Heart, clean a few weeks plunk for at E3. The controllers look great, and unless it's a constraint along the cameras (a second ace is included with the Tinge bundle) I assume the computer hardware incline of things is fine.
It's more likely Oculus is waiting to launch Touch until in that location are more games that capitalise of the engineering science. Which…well, conferred how sparse the Oculus Store is when it comes to normal Rift content, waiting might be fashionable.
We'll be in San Jose for Optic Connect in October and will have many information to share As soon as it's available.
